Overview

A distinguished family office seeks an exceptional Property and Construction Lead to oversee a prestigious global portfolio of residential estates and high-value construction projects. This executive-level position serves as the principal's strategic representative across all property operations, ensuring the family's vision for excellence is realized while maintaining the highest standards of quality, discretion, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will be the cornerstone of property portfolio management, seamlessly coordinating between architects, owners representatives, contractors, designers, and property managers while representing ownership interests in all construction and development matters. This role demands someone who can navigate complex construction projects with sophisticated mechanical systems, anticipate challenges before they arise, and deliver solutions with minimal principal involvement.

We seek a meticulously caring professional who combines deep construction expertise with exceptional foresight and the ability to see around corners. The ideal candidate thrives in autonomous environments, demonstrates extraordinary attention to detail, and approaches challenges with creative problem‑solving capabilities. This position requires someone who understands the nuances of refined residential properties and can maintain the principal's vision while managing diverse stakeholders across multiple time zones.

This opportunity offers the chance to shape and protect a family's real estate legacy while working in an environment that values autonomy, innovation, and work–life balance. The role is perfect for someone who appreciates the art of refined living spaces and believes in creating seamless property experiences that exceed the highest expectations.

  • Minimum eight years of progressive leadership experience in estate management, high‑end construction oversight, or property portfolio management with demonstrated success managing complex residential projects featuring advanced mechanical systems and integrated technologies.
  • Proven expertise in construction management with the ability to represent ownership interests effectively in OAC meetings, architectural reviews, and contractor negotiations while ensuring adherence to design intent, quality standards, and project timelines.
  • Exceptional ability to autonomously solve problems and think creatively with minimal information, demonstrating the foresight to anticipate challenges and develop comprehensive solutions before issues arise.
  • Meticulous level of care and attention to detail with the ability to retain complex information, think through scenarios others might miss, and identify potential concerns in architectural plans, construction specifications, and property operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in modern communication platforms, particularly Signal and Google Workspace, with demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools and technology to enhance operational efficiency and decision‑making.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi‑million dollar construction budgets, capital expenditure planning, and vendor contract negotiations while identifying cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality.
  • High emotional intelligence with exceptional discretion and the ability to work effectively with private families, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries while building trust and demonstrating genuine care for the principal's interests.
  • Demonstrated thoughtfulness and strategic thinking with the ability to provide comprehensive problem analysis and solution recommendations, clearly articulating the rationale behind each recommendation to leadership.
  • Experience working in autonomous, remote environments with the self‑discipline to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously while maintaining clear communication channels and meeting aggressive deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically as required, with flexibility to be available for urgent matters and the understanding that proximity to properties requires immediate availability when needed.
  • Spanish language proficiency is highly valued for effective communication with international teams and vendors across the global property portfolio.
  • Bachelor's degree required; background in construction management, engineering, architecture, or hospitality preferred with additional value placed on startup experience or entrepreneurial mindsets.
Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Excellence: Oversee a distinguished global portfolio of residences across multiple locations, ensuring each property consistently operates at the highest standards while maintaining the principal's aesthetic vision and quality expectations through regular site visits and comprehensive oversight protocols.
  • Construction Leadership: Serve as the principal's authoritative voice in weekly OAC meetings and construction reviews, ensuring all projects align with design intent, budget parameters, and timeline requirements while proactively identifying and resolving potential challenges before they impact project delivery.
  • Strategic Property Operations: Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs across all properties, including quarterly preventative maintenance protocols, long‑term capital planning, and immediate response systems for critical issues while ensuring minimal disruption to the principal's use and enjoyment of the properties.
  • Team Orchestration: Lead and coordinate a distributed team of property managers, maintenance professionals, and specialized vendors across multiple time zones, serving as the escalation point for maintenance requests, renovation approvals, and capital project decisions while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Vendor Excellence: Source, evaluate, and manage relationships with premier vendors across diverse disciplines including landscape architecture, security systems, AV/IT integration, MEP systems, and specialty residential technologies, ensuring all partners meet the family's exacting standards for quality and service.
  • Automobile Stewardship: Oversee the maintenance and logistics of the vehicle collection, ensuring proper care, service scheduling, and operational readiness while coordinating with specialized mechanics and service providers for unique vehicle requirements.
  • Financial Oversight: Track and analyze capital expenditures, operational budgets, and construction costs across the portfolio, providing regular reporting on financial performance, upcoming maintenance requirements, and potential cost optimization opportunities while maintaining complete transparency with leadership.
  • Communication Hub: Function as the primary liaison between the principal, architects, general contractors, designers, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, aligned expectations, and seamless coordination across all parties while filtering information appropriately to minimize principal involvement in routine matters.
  • Technology Integration: Implement and maintain sophisticated digital solutions for project management, communication, and property oversight, ensuring all systems are optimized for efficiency and accessibility while maintaining the highest standards of digital security and privacy.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage: 100% employer‑paid health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement Planning: 401(k) program currently being established
  • Philanthropic Matching: 100% matching for charitable contributions
  • Time Off: 2-3+ weeks paid vacation plus holidays, with the understanding that urgent matters may require availability
  • Professional Growth: Professional development opportunities and exposure to world‑class construction and design professionals
  • Work Environment: Remote work flexibility with the autonomy to manage your schedule while meeting property and project requirements

Important Note: This role operates within a lean, high‑performing team environment where self‑direction and creative problem‑solving are essential. The successful candidate will have access to substantial resources and support while maintaining the autonomy to drive results independently.
