Job summary

Johnson Construction Group is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support our commercial and residential construction operations in the Atlanta area. This role works closely with Project Managers, Field Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and office staff to coordinate multiple active projects.

The ideal candidate is organized, tech‑savvy, and able to adapt to changing priorities. This position offers development toward a Project Manager role with exposure to field and office

Qualifications

• Construction experience preferred.
• Prior Assistant PM/Coordinat or similar role is preferred.
• Degree in construction management, business, or engineering is a plus but not required.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read construction drawings and scopes of work.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Field Superintendents with coordination of multiple commercial and residential projects.
• Develop, maintain, and update project schedules.
• Coordinate subcontractor schedules, material deliveries, inspections, and other project activities.
• Communicate schedule changes and project updates to the team.
• Track upcoming work and ensure availability of subcontractors and materials.
• Maintain organized project files (electronic and physical).
• Prepare and distribute project updates, meeting notes, and action lists.
• Assist with contracts, POs, submittals, RFIs, change orders, permits, inspections, and closeout docs.
• Track client selections, approvals, and lead times.
• Review project documents, drawings, specs, and scopes of work.
• Assist with gathering pricing and coordinating information from subs/vendors.
• Identify scheduling conflicts and potential delays.
• Maintain clear field-office-client communication.
• Visit jobsites to review progress and document conditions.
