Overview

Brown University Athletics is seeking candidates for multiple seasonal Athletics Public Address Announcer positions.

Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 38 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI).

Responsibilities
  • Inform everyone in attendance at an athletic contest of all pertinent information occurring during the event.
  • Perform commercial “reads” throughout the game or event and project clearly to a large crowd.
  • Annunciate accurately and announce at the appropriate times, with knowledge of the event and its rules.
  • Observe and react to events on the field/court/venue to accurately announce information.
  • Interact with game officials, Athletic Communications staff, Event Management staff, and Marketing and Promotions staff as needed.
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a given sport’s rules and regulations.
  • Ability to learn and apply specific game protocol as it pertains to Ivy League and NCAA rules.
  • Excellent speaking voice with the ability to project and annunciate and to read announcements in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and communicate clearly with stakeholders during events.
Other Requirements
  • All division employees must demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations; duties are performed in compliance with applicable policies. Any known or suspected rule violations should be reported to the compliance office.
  • Coaching staff must receive annual rules education on NCAA recruiting legislation and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certificate available at no cost through the Division).
  • Background Check – Criminal and Education verification required. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown.
