Job summary

Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, is seeking an Athletics Facilities and Operations Assistant (Part-Time) to support the daily operation of the university's athletic facilities and events.

The role ensures safety, cleanliness, and readiness for practices, games, and rentals, and involves coordinating setup/breakdown and customer service at the Fitness Center and Hackensack Meridian Health Athletic Center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in recreation, fitness center operations, athletic facilities, event operations, or related setting.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with staff and student employees.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations of the Fitness Center and athletic facilities.
• Assist with setup, safety standards, equipment placement, and facility upkeep.
• Adhere to policies governing the Department of Athletics and applicable NCAA/ conference rules.
• Monitor equipment inventory, order supplies, and coordinate repairs.
• Enforce policy to protect equipment and maintain safe workout environments.
• Manage, train, and schedule student employees.
• Serve as the point of contact, respond to inquiries, and support retention.
• Monitor health, safety, and equipment standards and maintain certifications/logs.
• Maintain documentation, incident logs, and safety/compliance records.
• Support preparation, setup, and breakdown for practices, events, rentals, and competitions.
• Other duties as assigned.
