Hiring Range is $52,364 to $60,555 annually based onqualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Sports Dome Manager, this position isresponsible for the planning, organizing, scheduling, promoting andsupervision of a variety of programs and special events. The AthleticsCoordinator is responsible for programs at the facility, and may beassigned to work in other areas and special events within or outsideof the Department. This position requires working evenings, holidaysand weekends. This position assists in general supervision of thefacility and may substitute for the Sports Dome Manager in theirabsence and assume all duties, as needed. Performs duties in a mannerconsistent with the stated values of the organization.
- Coordinates the day-to-day Athletics programs and facilityoperations to ensure a high level of customer service, staffproductivity, and general policy enforcement.
- Coordinates and leads a variety of programs for various ages andskill levels in the areas of leagues, tournaments, special events,clinics, camps and rentals to meet the recreational needs of thecommunity. Assists in the scheduling of programs and determinesappropriate number and nature of programs.
- Prepares the catalog of sports classes, schedules programs in thefacilities, and assigns instructors and aids to classes. Reviews andnotifies instructors of class enrollment and scheduling.
- Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates assigned staff.Provides or coordinates staff training. Provides constructive andtimely performance evaluations. Works with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Assists with scheduling of staff for all assigned facilityactivities. Provides backup support as needed. Reviews and approvesemployee biweekly timesheets. Works with Payroll Department toresolve any pay issues.
- Monitors application of POS system for registration purposes.Evaluates and provides feedback for any enhancements to the process.Monitors external scheduling via Team Sideline and registrationsites and provides data and feedback.
- Develops schedules for league play, makes sure games and programsare properly supervised, and determines the appropriate number andnature of programs, for both games and officials.
- Conducts team/manager meetings prior to the start of each season.Strictly enforces the District’s Code of Conduct related to thebehavior of each athlete/participant.
- Provides or ensures general security at facilities and programsunder his/her direct supervision including proper control andissuance of keys and equipment.
- Trains and orients new staff members to the District's athleticsprograms and environment(s) including an emphasis on safety; openingand closing procedures; proper storage of equipment and supplies;and general facility rules.
- Assists in supervising the facility’s operations. Resolves issuespertaining to changing staffing needs, equipment maintenance andrepairs, and/or other urgent needs at assigned facilities. Fills infor the Facility Manager (Sports Complex) or the Athletics ProgramSupervisor (Sports Dome) in their absence.
- Oversees collection and handling of all monies for programs andactivities and ensures that monies are collected and handledaccording to District policy. Maintains all financial records andperforms reporting.
- Assists with the preparation and monitoring of the budget,managing revenues and expenditures and preparing financial reports.Prepares purchase orders, RFPs, and invoice requests. Collects andrecords payments/fees for programs and outstanding balances.Prepares short and long-range revenue/expenditure projections,checks revenue streams through POS etc. Develops and recommendsprogram related costs, fees, and locations.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and tracking ofmarketing strategies to notify the public of District events. Workswith Communications staff to promote community awareness ofathletics programs through press releases, news stories, fliers, andmeetings with the general public. Evaluates customer satisfaction.Solicits sponsors and donations for programs and special events as assigned.
- Maintains records and makes periodic reports including dailymaintenance records, attendance reports, program reports, staffevaluations, incident/accident reports, and inventory logs accordingto District procedures in a timely manner.
- Provides a variety of general information to the public regardingparks and recreation operations and programs.
- Recognizes emergency and dangerous situations by reacting quicklyand calmly; administers first aid as needed. CompletesAccident/Incident report.
- Responds tactfully, respectfully and in a timely manner toinquiries and problems in person, through email, phone and mail byproviding helpful information and explanations in-line with Districtpolicies and procedures. Thoughtfully handles confrontational orstressful interactions.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with Districtemployees, vendors, various outside user groups and associations tocoordinate their programs, tournaments, league play, and special events.
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings; staysabreast of new trends and innovations in the field of recreational services.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations.
- Attends work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Determines community needs by evaluating programs, disciplineareas, and activities. Makes recommendations for improvement andfuture development, and implements changes. Surveys the communityregarding Athletics offerings.
- Assists with policy enforcement and development of proceduremanuals; conducts periodic meetings to provide and gatherinformation, answer questions and respond to complaints andconcerns, both internally and externally. Reviews program rules withteams and resolves any disputes in a timely manner.
- Observes necessary precautions to assure general public safety;inspect facilities/grounds for safety and maintenance needs.

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate's Degree in Recreation Administration, PhysicalEducation, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Lacrosse experience is preferred
- One (1) year experience in a similar position. Two (2) years’experience preferred.
- Any combination of experience, training and education thatdemonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities to performthe essential functions of the position may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification or the ability to obtainwithin ninety (90) days of hire.
- Official’s certification in related sports is highly recommended.
- Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) certification preferred.
- Mandatory Reporting certification, or the ability to obtain within30 days.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License or have the abilityto obtain within six (6) months of hire and maintain an acceptabledriving record.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General knowledge of the philosophies, objectives, practices, andsystems of parks and recreation and their application as related toyouth and adult sports programs and special events.

- Ability to effectively handle cash-flow and daily cash reportswith accuracy and proper handling in adherence to established procedures.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel,Word, Outlook and Publisher.
- Must be highly motivated and take direction well.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced andhigh-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provideoutstanding customer service, establish and maintain effectiveworking relationships, and interact with others in a professional manner.
- Ability to work a varied schedule which may include some evenings,weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of soccer, lacrosse, and flag football rules and regulations.
- General knowledge of and ability to organize groups in arecreation setting.
- General knowledge of facility operations including computer, cashregisters, and basic custodial procedures.
- Proven abilities in the areas of registration functions, coach andparent education, and inventory management.
Material and Equipment Used :
- Regularly uses standard office equipment including a personalcomputer, phone, printer, fax machine, and copier.
- Regularly uses a cash register, credit-card machine, and calculator.
- This position may be required to drive a personal and/or Districtmotor vehicle to various District and off-site facilities.
- Primarily works in a recreation center and comfortable officeenvironment subject to continuous interruptions and background noises.
- Occasionally works outside subject to variable weather conditions,ecosystems and landscape.
Physical Requirements :
- Stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time.
- Occasional physical work lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to handle or feelobjects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop,kneel, squat, climb, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer andoffice equipment.
- Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information. Visionacuity to see close-up and at a distance with the ability to adjustfocus allowing a broad field of vision.
