UW Health is seeking an Athletic Trainer - Physician Extender in Madison, WI for a part-time, 0.80 FTE daytime schedule. The role focuses on history/exams, care coordination, patient rehabilitation, and education on orthopedic equipment, with emphasis on clinic efficiency and patient care quality.

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in athletic training, be certified by NATABOC, licensed in Wisconsin, and have experience or readiness in a clinical setting.

Formación

• Undergraduate degree in athletic training is required.
• Master's degree in healthcare, athletic training, education or business preferred.
• Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification is required (NATABOC).
• Licensed Athletic Trainer in State of WI; may allow a one-month grace period to obtain license in extenuating circumstances.

Responsabilidades

• Perform medical history and physical examination on patients.
• Assist in care coordination by placing orders for surgical case requests, imaging, interventional radiology procedures and other referrals under the attending provider.
• Provide initial rehabilitation exercises and instruction for patient performance.
• Educate use of orthopedic durable medical equipment such as crutches, braces, and splints.
• Coordinate and review patient medical records and imaging prior to appointments to ensure optimal care and clinic efficiency.
• Assist with wound care, dressing changes, sutures, and splint removal.
• Assist with in-clinic joint aspiration and wound culture preparation including ordering labs and transporting specimens.
