Job summary

The University of Kentucky's UK HealthCare Sports Medicine is seeking a dedicated Athletic Trainer to provide daily medical coverage and injury prevention for university athletes.

You will collaborate with physicians, coaches, and performance staff to assess injuries, develop rehabilitation plans, and guide return-to-play decisions, while maintaining accurate EMR records and contributing to athlete education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training required.
• NATA BOC certification required.
• KBML licensure or eligibility at time of hire.
• Experience working with collegiate athletes.
• Outreach/field-based AT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily medical coverage, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for university athletes.
• Coordinate with players, coaches, and healthcare professionals to ensure athlete health and safety.

Shift

This role requires a flexible schedule based on athletic event demands. Work hours will include weekdays, evenings, and weekends depending on practice schedules, games, and special events. Some travel to away games and tournaments will be required.

Job Summary

UK HealthCare Sports Medicine is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Athletic Trainer. Your primary focus will be the daily medical coverage, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for athletes within the university's athletics system. You'll act as a liaison between players, coaches, and healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of athletes.

Additional duties include

• Managing medical documentation and injury tracking.
• Coordinating with UK HealthCare's physicians and rehabilitation specialists for athlete referrals.
• Assisting with emergency planning and response protocols at training and match facilities. Promoting education and awareness regarding injury prevention and performance optimization.
• Supporting event coverage and medical operations for events and teams as needed.

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training required; Master's degree preferred. National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification ( NATA BOC ) Required. Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure ( KBML ) Licensure or eligibility at time of hire. Experience working with collegiate athletes. Prior outreach/field-based AT experience preferred.
