JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients at Duke Orthopaedic Clinic in Morrisville, NC.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patient Care Responsibilities: Rooming patients, collecting histories, documenting HPI, charting, answering calls, completing forms, patient education, setting up and maintaining sterile fields.
• Clerical Duties: Preparing clinics, obtaining test results, updating charts, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, coordinating referrals and appointments.
• Fulfills EOC Responsibilities: Cleaning exam rooms, ordering and stocking supplies, maintaining a safe work environment by checking for expired supplies and medications, emptying sharps containers.
• Organizational Duties: Promoting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, following HR, Compliance, and Joint Commission policies.
• State Law Responsibilities: Autoclaving, checking vital signs, suture removal, dressing changes, entering orders per physician protocols, biohazard waste management, applying DME.
• Additional Skills: Developing ability to remove casts, applying splints and casts, fitting DME products.
• Post-Operative Evaluation: Evaluating patients during first post-op visits, with physician or APP support, co-signing notes.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager or HCA.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Four-year college degree meeting athletic trainer requirements; master's preferred.
• NATABOC Certification required.
• Licensed by NC Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners.
• Current CPR certification.
