Position qualifies for our Athletic Trainer Incentive Program: $10,000 paid over a three-year commitment period. Payment is spread over six installments, made after each six-month work period.
Summary:
This position requires clinical evaluation and educational skills expected of an athletic trainer in a physician extender role. Responsibilities include athletic injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as per NATA standards. The athletic trainer will demonstrate taping, strapping, bracing, fitting athletic equipment, and will follow prescribed treatments from physicians. The role may involve working as an embedded member in a school with limited clinical supervision.

The Department of Orthopaedics at UNC emphasizes clinical care, operations, teaching, and research, with a dedicated team of physicians, physician extenders, and staff specializing in musculoskeletal health across multiple locations including Carolina Pointe II, ACC, Weaver Crossing, and Panther Creek. Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), licensed or license-eligible by the North Carolina Board, and BLS certification.
Professional Experience: Preferred one year as an athletic trainer.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including medical terminology.
