Job summary

Wood County Hospital is seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive clinical support and education on a full-time, day schedule on campus. You will assess athletes/patients, coordinate care, and promote safety and positive outcomes within the health care team.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and an Ohio athletic training license, with BOC and BLS certifications. Master’s is preferred; onsite role with growth and benefits available.

• Master’s degree in athletic training preferred.
• Ohio athletic training license is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed athlete/patient assessments and document findings in the clinical info system.
• Educate patients on preoperative, postoperative care, wound care, mobility training and rehab.
• Remove/apply dressings, sutures, casts and splints; instruct on DME and devices.
• Coordinate care with surgical/clinical team; manage referrals and scheduling.
• Support a safety-focused, athlete-centered care environment; comply with standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Athletic Trainer / Full Time / Days

The Athletic Trainer is to provide comprehensive support in athletic/patient care through skilled clinical assistance, athletic/patient education, and coordination of services. This role contributes to high-quality, athletic/patient-centered care by promoting safety, efficiency, and positive clinical outcomes within the healthcare team. The Athletic Trainer is an onsite position on the campus of BGSU

Eseential Functions

• Perform detailed athlete/patient assessments by obtaining medical histories, conducting physical and functional evaluations, and documenting all clinical findings accurately in the clinical information system.
• Provide athlete/patient education and instruction on preoperative preparation, postoperative protocols, wound care, mobility training, and rehabilitation exercises to promote optimal recovery and outcomes.
• Remove and apply dressings, sutures, casts, and splints, fitting and instructing patients on durable medical equipment (DME) and assistive devices following aseptic technique and all physician orders.
• Collaborate with the surgical and clinical team to coordinate care, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, manage referrals and scheduling, and support an athletic/patient-centered environment.
• Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety. Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request.
• May be expected to work longer hours as necessary. Other duties as assigned.
