Job summary

Wood County Hospital is seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive clinical support and education in athletic/patient care. This full-time, days position involves assessments, wound care, and collaboration with surgical teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, Ohio licensure, and BOC certification, with BLS preferred. Onsite at the Wood County Hospital campus, with a focus on safety and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in athletic training and Ohio licensure.
• BOC certification required and BLS certification.
• Experience in athletic/patient education is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to document clinical findings accurately in EMR.

Responsibilities

• Perform athlete/patient assessments including medical history and functional evaluations.
• Provide education on pre/postoperative care, wound care, mobility and rehabilitation.
• Remove/apply dressings, casts, splints, and fit durable medical equipment.
• Collaborate with surgical/clinical teams to coordinate care and manage referrals.

This role contributes to high-quality, athletic/patient-centered care by promoting safety, efficiency, and positive clinical outcomes within the healthcare team. The Athletic Trainer is an onsite position on the campus of BGSUEseential FunctionsPerform detailed athlete/patient assessments by obtaining medical histories, conducting physical and functional evaluations, and documenting all clinical findings accurately in the clinical information system.Provide athlete/patient education and instruction on preoperative preparation, postoperative protocols, wound care, mobility training, and rehabilitation exercises to promote optimal recovery and outcomes.Remove and apply dressings, sutures, casts, and splints, fitting and instructing patients on durable medical equipment (DME) and assistive devices following aseptic technique and all physician orders.Collaborate with the surgical and clinical team to coordinate care, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, manage referrals and scheduling, and support an athletic/patient-centered environment.Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety. Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request.May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.
