Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing outreach athletic training and duties as assigned. OSU Sports Medicine is a multi‑disciplinary outpatient program that provides health care for athletes and physically active people of all abilities. The Athletic Trainer will:

  • Provide outreach activities including event and practice coverage, preventive practice, athletic training room coverage, educational involvement, and other duties related to coverage for college, high school, recreational or club sports.
  • Provision of components of physical therapy treatment plans under the direct supervision of a treating physical therapist.
  • Serve as a physician extender in physician clinics, coordinating patient flow and supporting physicians as directed to ensure timely delivery of quality care.
  • Supervise supportive clinical personnel (e.g., aides, students), participate in a teaching capacity, and assist with administrative procedures.
  • Work within scope of practice as outlined by the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board of the State of Ohio.
  • Comply with medical center, sports medicine, and outreach policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s level degree in athletic training or related health science field.
  • State of Ohio Athletic Trainer license.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
  • Two to three years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic/sports medicine facility (preferred).
  • Experience working with athletic populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
