The Athletic Trainer role at University of North Carolina at Greensboro supports care for injuries during Club Sports events and contributes to the department's emergency action plan. The AT works with Competitive Sports staff to ensure a safe participation environment for participants, spectators, and visitors.
Responsibilities include on-site injury care, emergency medical response, and collaboration with medical staff.
The Athletic Trainer is the primary responder responsible for providing care for routine and emergent injuries sustained during Club Sports events. Playing a vital role in the department’s emergency action plan, AT’s work with the Competitive Sports Staff to ensure club participants, spectators and visitors are afforded a reasonably safe participation environment.
AT’s report directly to the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports and may receive additional direction from all members of the Competitive Sports Leadership Team (Competitive Sports Coordinator and Graduate Assistant/Intern) and the supervising physician. These staff members respond to emergencies providing efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, abiding by the department’s emergency action plan. In addition, AT’s are responsible for treating minor injuries, determining a participant’s fitness for returning to play, evaluating the potential for sustained concussions, and monitoring environmental factors that may impact participant and spectator safety. In the event of the need to deny participation or modify a play schedule, AT’s must exhibit strong leadership and communication to ensure potential risks are mitigated.
Recruitment Range: $23.94/hour. Position will begin early August 2025. Hours vary based on sport club competitions.
