Job summary

The City of Decatur is seeking a part-time Athletic Specialist to support our DPRD athletic programs in Decatur, GA. The role focuses on developing and promoting programming for all ages, recruiting participants, and supervising activities with strong public-facing responsibilities.

Evening and weekend availability is required (3pm–10pm). Applicants should have a high school diploma, customer service experience, and the ability to pass background checks; CPR/First Aid certifications are

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience dealing with the public preferred.
CPR, First Aid, and Prevent Child Abuse certifications preferred or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

Develops, promotes and organizes programming for all ages.
Recruits community members to participate in new and ongoing athletic programs
Responds to inquiries and complaints or refer to the appropriate person.
Effectively manages self through the independent initiation and accomplishment of tasks.
Enforces program rules and supervises program areas.
Responsible for preparing of athletic programs and setting up the facility/fields for programs.
Responds to requested information by providing knowledge of the division’s services, operations, and activities.
Staff and set up for athletic games
Drag, chalk, or line fields.
Score keep or officiate athletic games, as needed.
