Job summary

Horry County Parks and Recreation Department seeks an Athletic Coordinator to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate a broad athletic program across the designated district. You will build partnerships with community groups and act as a self-starter who enjoys coaching, refereeing, scorekeeping, and creating rosters for children, families and seniors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required; a 2- or 4-year degree in Education or Recreation preferred.
• 3 years of supervisory experience in scheduling and budgeting recreation activities preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration or related field preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and background check.

Responsibilities

• Develops and facilitates programs for athletics within the designated district and plans special events.
• Hires and trains staff; supervises site supervisors; coordinates with instructors, officials and volunteers.
• Oversees participant discipline and conducts parent meetings; supervises countywide programs.
• Monitors financial and activity reports, sets up fees, processes payments, and orders supplies per policy.
• Inspects facilities, ensures safety, and reports hazards; designs communications to the public.
• Represents the department in county/state/national organizations and cultivates partnerships.
• May require after-hours work, nights and weekends; may perform light custodial tasks.
• Keeps informed of policy changes and provides friendly, timely customer service.
