Job summary

Hampshire Township Park District is seeking a Recreation Manager to lead and develop athletic programs, classes, camps, and events. The role focuses on community engagement, staff supervision, budgeting, and ensuring high-quality recreational experiences for diverse participants.

You will coordinate with multiple departments, oversee scheduling and safety procedures, recruit volunteers/coaches, and maintain partnerships with schools and community groups to promote healthy lifestyles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred.
• Five years of full-time progressive experience in sports programming and/or related recreation management. Direct park district experience in athletics is highly desired.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with ability to manage leagues, volunteers and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee a diverse range of athletic programs and activities for all ages and abilities.
• Engage the community to understand sports interests and expand program outreach.
• Assess program effectiveness using feedback, attendance data and performance metrics.
• Administer athletic opportunities with ADA compliance and special needs.
• Oversee events and schedules for facilities and custodial needs.
• Manage budgets for athletic programs and staffing.
• Train staff and coaches on safety procedures and emergency guidelines.
• Collaborate with school districts for shared facility use and safety protocols.
• Coordinate facility use and invoicing for external groups.
• Assist with promotional strategies and sponsorship opportunities.
