Job summary

South Washington County Schools is seeking a Grounds Specialist at the District Service Center. The role focuses on care, maintenance, and improvement of outdoor facilities, athletic fields, irrigation, and related areas. Requires independence, strong technical skills, and the ability to operate a range of commercial equipment.

Flexibility to adjust hours during weather events is required to ensure safe campus access and ongoing maintenance throughout the district.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Three years verifiable grounds maintenance experience.
• Three years plow truck experience in commercial setting.
• Three years maintenance of commercial equipment.
• Minnesota Pesticide Applicators license (A&E) within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform turf care: mowing, trimming, edging, aeration, fertilization, weed control, overseeding.
• Maintain trees, shrubs, landscaped areas, and naturalized grounds.
• Operate and maintain commercial grounds equipment (tractors, plows, loaders, skid steers).
• Set up athletic equipment and prepare fields for practices/competitions.
• Assist with irrigation start-up, shutdown, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Record tasks and repairs in district work order systems.
• Respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests.
