Job summary

Young World Physical Education in Amarillo, TX, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant Athletic Crew Leader to support the Athletic Crew Leader in preparing stadiums and athletic fields for UIL events. You will supervise field maintenance, coordinate staff, monitor watering, and ensure safety protocols are followed.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, knowledge of turf maintenance, and the ability to work in all weather and on irregular hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must possess valid Texas Driver’s License & CDL.
• Extensive knowledge of turf maintenance and athletic field markings.
• Capable of completing mathematical formulas including equipment calibrations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
• General knowledge of farm equipment and attachments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide cultural care to turf, trees and shrubs.
• Assist in the supervision of stadium activities, preparation of events, and coordinating required grounds staff.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating athletic field maintenance and event setups.
• Monitor watering schedules of athletic fields.
• Establish and maintain open communication with school coaching staff.
• Assist in coordinating with the Athletic Department and coaches for maintenance repairs.
• Assist in budgeting and monitor expenditures.
• Supervise application of pesticides and fertilizers.
• Assist in determining cultivation and field renovation schedules.
• Perform record keeping and other documentation.
• Inspect work performed by Stadium Coordinator and Grounds staff.
• Fill in during absence of Foreman.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and applicable laws.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
