City of Temple, TX is seeking a Crew Leader II to oversee the maintenance of athletic fields and support facilities. The role supervises crew members and assists in completing tasks under the Parks Foreman.

Responsibilities include field maintenance, irrigation scheduling, equipment upkeep, and coordinating with leagues and vendors. Valid driver’s license and a TDA non-commercial applicators license or the ability to obtain within six months are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of ballfield maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, or related field.
  • One year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Six months of experience working with irrigation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instructional supervision to ballfield maintenance crew members to ensure proper maintenance of assigned athletic facilities.
  • Reports maintenance items needing repairs by inputting them in Maintrac.
  • Keeps all athletic fields free of trash and debris and performs general turf care, including sod cutting, repair seeding, and watering.
  • Creates a water schedule for all athletic fields and inspects irrigation systems monthly, reporting any repairs needed.
  • Ensures routine maintenance is done on all equipment and tools before use.
  • Assists in daily general athletic field maintenance, including dragging and lining fields, setting bases, watering infields, and ensuring restrooms are clean and stocked.
  • Collaborates with vendors and suppliers to discuss products used in repair work and ordering supplies needed.
  • Prepares daily assignments for staff.
  • Collaborates with league coordinators to identify fields needed for play during the season.
  • Works with leagues to create a prioritized list of off-season maintenance projects for foreman approval.
  • Supports City-sponsored events and tournaments as assigned.
  • Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in ballfield maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, or related field
  • One (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • Six (6) months of experience working with irrigation systems
Certifications and Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license
  • TDA non-commercial applicators license or the ability to obtain license within six (6) months of employment
