Job summary

American University is seeking an Athletic Operations Manager to coordinate on-site event preparation for home and hosted events. You will oversee setup, execution, and breakdown for varsity programs and manage student staff for daily facility operations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or Event Management and 1–3 years of event operations experience, with the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management or Event Management required.
  • 1–3 years of related event operations experience.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates on-site event preparation for all home athletic events and hosted events.
  • Manages home athletic events for assigned varsity programs including setup and breakdown.
  • Trains and supervises part-time and student staff for events and facility maintenance.
  • Maintains outdoor athletic facilities; communicates with Grounds Crew on field conditions and readiness.
  • Manages security needs and access for athletes, contractors, and staff.
  • Handles keys/access management, inspections, housekeeping requests, and concessions tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations.
