Job summary

Holman Enterprises is seeking an Installation Mechanic B to join our Ft. Wayne, IN team. This full-time role focuses on building and assembling vehicles, installing electrical, hydraulic, and crane systems, and fabricating truck bodies to meet wiring diagrams and blueprints.

You will perform functional tests, document work orders, and maintain high safety and quality standards. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, experience reading diagrams, and the ability to diagnose and repair

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, welding certification preferred.
• AWS Welding Certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble vehicles using given instructions, prints, and specs.
• Install and connect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane systems and controls.
• Fabricate and install truck bodies, equipment, boxes, and specialty components.
• Test installed equipment and verify operation per specs.
• Record serial numbers and document work orders clearly and accurately.

Holman's upfitting division has a great opportunity for an Installation Mechanic B to join our team in Ft. Wayne, IN.

Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 Pay: $21 per hour based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and assemble vehicles using work instructions, prints, and specifications.
• Install and connect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane systems and controls.
• Fabricate and install truck bodies, equipment, boxes, and specialty components.
• Fill vehicle systems with required fluids and perform functional testing of installed equipment.
• Verify work order completion and ensure all required tasks are accurately documented.
• Record equipment serial numbers, key numbers, and other required vehicle information.
• Conduct visual quality inspections and identify defects, leaks, installation issues, or manufacturing concerns.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems as needed.
• Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
• Perform MIG welding, cutting, and fabrication activities while meeting quality standards.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, cutting torches, and plasma cutters.
• Assist with continuous improvement efforts by identifying process enhancements and reporting issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety policies.
• Support team members and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle, engine, or equipment repair.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience reading and working from wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to perform MIG welding and quality welds in multiple positions.
• Ability to operate cutting torches and plasma cutters safely.Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
• AWS Welding Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience with truck equipment installation, vocational trucks, utility bodies, or upfit operations.
• Intermediate electrical and hydraulic repair experience.
• Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic equipment and software.
• Experience with electric-over-hydraulic and central hydraulic systems.
• Valid driver's license.

Pay

We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $20.00 - $25.25 USD per hour.
