Job summary

Holman is seeking an Installation Mechanic B to join our Ft. Wayne, IN team. You will build and assemble vehicles using work instructions, install mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane systems, and fabricate components.

The role requires reading wiring diagrams, performing MIG welding, using hand and power tools, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Shift: Mon-Fri, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm; pay: $21 per hour based on experience; benefits provided.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of vehicle, engine, or equipment repair.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience reading wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints and work orders.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with MIG welding and quality welds in multiple positions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble vehicles using work instructions, prints, and specifications.
  • Install and connect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane systems and controls.
  • Fabricate and install truck bodies, equipment, boxes, and specialty components.
  • Fill vehicle systems with required fluids and perform functional testing of installed equipment.
  • Verify work order completion and ensure all required tasks are documented.
  • Record equipment serial numbers and other required vehicle information.
  • Conduct visual quality inspections and identify defects or installation issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems as needed.
  • Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Perform MIG welding, cutting, and fabrication activities while meeting quality standards.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, cutting torches, and plasma cutters.

Holman's upfitting division has a great opportunity for an Installation Mechanic B to join our team in Ft. Wayne, IN. Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30. Pay: $21 per hour based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and assemble vehicles using work instructions, prints, and specifications.

  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts by identifying process enhancements and reporting issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety policies.
  • Support team members and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate cutting torches and plasma cutters safely.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • AWS Welding Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with truck equipment installation, vocational trucks, utility bodies, or upfit operations.
  • Intermediate electrical and hydraulic repair experience.
  • Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Experience with electric-over-hydraulic and central hydraulic systems.
  • Valid driver's license.

Pay & Benefits Details:

Pay: We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $20.00 - $25.25 USD per hour.
