Job summary

ASCEND Aerospace & Technology, LLC (ASCEND) seeks a Training Systems Technician to support day-to-day astronaut and flight-crew training in the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at Johnson Space Center. You will set up and maintain full-scale spacecraft mockups, configure training environments, and coordinate with instructors and customers to ensure mission-ready readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; COSMOS level I typically supports 0–4 years of related experience; level II requires 4 years; level III requires 8 years.
• Ability to follow technical procedures/checklists, configuration requirements, safety rules, and directions from instructors and supervision.
• Must be able to obtain NASA PIV badge and complete required training before independent authorization.

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down training configurations for SVMF classes, tests, evaluations, mission-support activities, and events.
• Retrieve, stage, inspect, install, configure, operate, restore, and store training equipment and mockup hardware.
• Support ISS, Orion, CST/Boeing, EVA, Commercial LEO and other mockups, per procedures.
• Verify work areas and interfaces including power, data, audio/video, communications, and access requirements.
• Provide status updates to instructors, engineers, and supervision; identify off-nominal conditions within scope.
• Troubleshoot equipment, respond to customer calls, secure unsafe conditions, and escalate as needed.
• Review negative evaluations and support incident/failure follow-up and restoration of training capability.
• Recognize hazards, exercise stop-work authority, and perform emergency-response actions when required.
• Operate forklifts, manlifts, cranes/rigging, scaffolds, or other gear only if qualified.
• Maintain training equipment and readiness to support changing customer requirements.
