Join MGO as an Assurance Supervisor in the State and Local Government Practice to lead high-profile government audit engagements across states, counties, cities, and major agencies. You will oversee planning through issuance, manage budgets and timelines, and coach junior staff while building expertise in GASB, GAGAS, and Uniform Guidance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in public accounting, including State and Local Government audit.
• CPA preferred; CPA-eligibility considered for licensure.
• Strong leadership, project management, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee audit engagements from planning through issuance.
• Manage engagement budgets, timelines, staffing and overall project execution.
• Review workpapers, assess risks and ensure compliance with standards.
• Serve as trusted advisor and primary client contact.
• Supervise and mentor associates, providing coaching and feedback.

• Support practice growth through client service and business development initiatives.
• Drive process improvements and contribute to the Government Practice's success.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-profile government audit engagements, working with some of the nation's largest and most complex public-sector organizations, including states, counties, cities, transit agencies, airports, ports, and major federal compliance programs.

What You'll Do

• Lead and oversee audit engagements from planning through issuance.
• Manage engagement budgets, timelines, staffing, and overall project execution.
• Review workpapers, assess risks, and ensure compliance with professional standards.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop associates and senior associates, providing coaching and performance feedback.
• Build expertise in governmental accounting and auditing standards, including GASB, GAGAS, and Uniform Guidance.
• Support practice growth through exceptional client service, relationship building, and business development initiatives.

What You'll Bring

• 4+ years of public accounting experience, including State and Local Government audit experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Active CPA license preferred; CPA eligible candidates actively pursuing licensure will be considered.
