Job summary

BDO USA, LLP seeks an Assurance Associate to prepare financial statements with disclosures and apply GAAP in engagement work. The role may involve reviews and agreed-upon procedures engagements, with travel as needed to meet client needs.

The candidate will work within control environments, GAAP and GAAS, contributing to documentation, testing, and evaluating internal controls, under guidance of senior team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, required; or Bachelor's in other focus area and CPA certification, required
• Master's in Accountancy, preferred
• Eligible to sit for the CPA exams upon starting employment, required; actively pursuing CPA exams preferred

Responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of control environment to identify policies, laws, and regulations relevant to engagements
• Drafts basic sets of financial statements with disclosures
• Applies GAAP principles and communicates understanding of treatments with documentation
• Applies GAAS standards and uses BDO policy to document and obtain approvals
• Completes documentation of BDO work papers and ensures work aligns with methodology
• Researches accounting topics to form initial treatment opinions
• Travel as needed to meet firm and client needs
• Other duties as required
