Job Summary

Responsible for oversight of Patron services, including some or all the following: circulation, course reserves, ILL, user services, and stacks maintenance. Accountable for service quality, innovation, and creative use of available technology in support of Patron service operations. This is a 9-month position. Non tenure track.

Degree requirement: ALA Accredited Masters.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervisory duties include coverage of circulation desk as needed, scheduling of shifts, input timesheets, quarterly/ annual performance evaluations.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Administrates OCLC Platform system in regard to Interlibrary loan and other related KOHA applications in order to provide maximum quality service to library users.
  • Works closely with the Collection Development Librarian in planning larger collection projects from planning to completion.
  • Assumes responsibility for library operations as needed to ensure the continuity of services and workflow. Participates in the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of student workers.
  • Develops and maintains proficiency in circulation services and interlibrary loan (ILL) to provide operational guidance and support as needed. Assumes the full responsibility of these functional areas during staff absences or position vacancies to ensure uninterrupted library services and workflow.
  • Works with librarians to promote end-user self-sufficiency. Participates with librarians in library-focused programs and active library instruction programs; helps develop appropriate teaching materials to meet faculty-teaching and student learning objectives.
  • Attend campus committee meetings, submit reports, and coordinate special projects. Communicates and solicits input from faculty.
  • Maintains assigned library LibGuides. Works with librarians to develop intuitive, user-friendly library resources and student-focused content.
  • Provides traditional and online reference services to students, faculty, and staff to help meet information and research needs in all available formats. Shares in providing reference services and building coverage on scheduled nights and weekends with other librarians and library staff.
  • Participate in the development of library-wide policies, special projects, procedures, and goals.
  • Maintains appropriate statistics; prepares regular and ad hocreports as required.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community partners and organizations to bring programs to the library for student engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of the Library.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum Education Requirement:Broad undergraduate education; master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association; advanced knowledge of computers and software.
  • Minimum Work Experience:This is an entry-level academic library position. Applicants must have previous and recent library experience at a minimum of 3 years. Applicants must have experience working with computer applications and operating systems, including installation, and troubleshooting in a networked environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications:Evidence of teaching experience. Prior library experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and virtually. Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Stamina to teach up to 24 hours weekly.
