United Way of New York City is seeking a strategic, hands-on operational leader to strengthen the projects, systems, procurement practices, compliance processes, and workflows that support our organization.

The Associate Vice President, Organizational Operations will lead cross-functional initiatives, oversee key business systems, and partner with Finance, Legal, Human Capital, and program teams to turn complex priorities into clear plans and sustainable practices.

This is an opportunity for an experienced operator who enjoys improving how organizations work and building systems that help people succeed.

What You Will Lead
  • Manage complex, cross-functional projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
  • Develop project plans that establish objectives, responsibilities, timelines, deliverables, risks, and measures of success.
  • Serve as the operational lead for FLUXX, CONCUR, Monday.com, and other Operations-owned systems.
  • Strengthen system governance, access, workflows, documentation, training, adoption, and user support.
  • Build Monday.com boards, automations, dashboards, and reports that provide visibility into organizational priorities.
  • Oversee procurement processes, vendor selection, purchasing-card administration, memberships, subscriptions, and related documentation.
  • Maintain compliance calendars and coordinate work connected to governmental requirements, funder obligations, third-party filings, and United Way Worldwide reporting.
  • Improve organizational processes, internal controls, operational efficiency, and the employee and user experience.
  • Develop operational dashboards and metrics that identify progress, risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities.
  • Supervise and develop assigned staff and manage budgets and organizational resources.
What You Bring
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in organizational operations, project management, business systems, administration, or a related area; at least 10 years preferred.
  • At least five years of experience managing projects and administering online business systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and improving systems, workflows, and business processes.
  • Experience with procurement, vendor management, contracts, compliance, staff supervision, and budget management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project-management, and communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to manage competing priorities, identify risk, and follow through on commitments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, project-management platforms, and FLUXX or a comparable system.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience and training may be considered.
  • Experience with Monday.com and CONCUR is strongly preferred. Project Management certification is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will combine systems thinking with practical execution, build productive relationships across departments, guide teams through change, and take ownership of timely, high-quality results.
