Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Development, you will play a critical role in strengthening the systems, processes, and insights that power Quinnipiac’s fundraising and engagement efforts.

Quinnipiac University seeks a strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as Associate Vice President for Advancement Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Development, you will play a critical role in strengthening the systems, processes, and insights that power Quinnipiac’s fundraising and engagement efforts.

In this high-impact leadership position, you will develop and implement information systems, processes, reporting, and policies that enable data-informed decision-making and advance the goals of the Department of Development and Alumni Affairs. You will lead the acquisition, management, analysis, and strategic use of information to support both the department’s day-to-day operations and long-term priorities.

You will provide leadership and direction across a broad portfolio of advancement services functions, including information systems, database management, document imaging, gift administration and processing, reporting, prospect research and management, donor relations, and fund management. Through effective collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to service, you will help ensure that advancement professionals have the information, tools, and resources they need to build meaningful relationships and achieve ambitious fundraising goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide for all Development & Alumni Affairs reporting and data needs by serving as the primary systems/data analyst for the department
  • Acquire expert knowledge of all database structures, usages and interfaces in order to set policies for data entry and coding, provide leadership for all system implementations, conversions and updates, create systems to verify the integrity of the D&AA data, produce complex reports, and provide solutions for data-related issues as they arise
  • Supervise staff in gift administration and processing. Ensure consistent, timely and accurate gift and pledge reporting and analysis for internal and external audiences and for reconciliation with the finance department. Provide data for surveys and oversee the production of donor lists, tax receipts, acknowledgements and reminders. Serve as the department’s expert on CASE standards and IRS policies related to charitable giving
  • Oversee the donor research area and strategize how to best acquire information and complete research while also identifying and qualifying new prospects
  • Oversee donor relations and fund management to ensure recognition, cultivation, and engagement of our donors and the proper stewardship of their gifts
  • Work closely with prospect management staff to determine prospect assignments, track the movement of prospects through fundraising stages and provide data to help monitor fundraising progress
  • Supervise data entry and document imaging staff. Prioritize and disseminate data projects as needed to assure timely updates to the D&AA database
  • Train D&AA staff in the general usage of our data systems and train advancement services staff in advanced database functions. Assist staff with technical problems as needed
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in in the management of fundraising and alumni support services required that would include management of data/gift processing departments, research and prospect management and information services
  • Expert knowledge of Colleague Advancement or a similar fundraising system
  • High level of proficiency with query languages
  • Excellent understanding of database files and structures
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and how they interface with one another
  • Experience with Informer, UniQuery, Blackbaud Performance Management (Reeher), iModules, and Gravyty is a plus
  • Advanced understanding of gift administration, processing and reporting
  • Ability to create, balance and reconcile complex gift and campaign reports
  • Full knowledge of CASE reporting standards and IRS rules as they apply to charitable giving
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Experience using a variety of research tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds
