Westside Veterinary, a privately owned companion animal practice in Spartanburg, SC, is hiring a full-time Associate Veterinarian. This position offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates seeking mentorship or experienced veterinarians looking to expand their client base in a setting that prioritizes individualized care and professional autonomy, setting us apart from corporate practices.

Position Overview:

  • Responsibilities: Provide general small animal care, including routine surgery, preventative health care, dental care, and vaccinations, with optional orthopedic services.
  • Private Practice Benefits: As a private practice, we emphasize flexibility, autonomy, and a voice in how things operate. You’ll have the freedom to deliver personalized care, an approach that’s often limited in corporate settings.
  • Advanced Resources & Team Support: Our practice features an in-house lab, digital x-ray, laser ultrasound, dual surgery suites, and an onsite pharmacy. For complex cases, we consult with a top radiologist and trusted specialists. You'll work alongside a dedicated team, including two seasoned veterinarians with over 30 years of experience, plus support from two sister practices.

Work-Life Balance & Supportive Environment:

  • Flexible Schedule: Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., with no weekends, after-hours, or on-call requirements. You’ll work four days a week, ensuring a strong work-life balance.
  • Appointment-Based Care: We follow a structured, appointment-based system, with time allotted for thorough consultations, allowing you to build relationships with clients without the pressure to meet corporate-imposed quotas.
  • Veterinarian-Centric Leadership: For each veterinarian we hire, we develop a dedicated team of veterinarian technicians and support staff to work around their specific schedule.
  • Salary & Bonuses: Competitive salary of $110,000 - $175,000 (based on experience) with monthly production bonuses starting at 22%, capped at 25%.
  • Signing Bonus & Relocation Support: Receive a signing bonus (distributed quarterly) based on experience, up to $5,000 for relocation assistance, and housing support if needed.
  • Healthcare & Retirement: Healthcare allowance with a choice of insurance plans offered, plus a Simple IRA with a 3% employer match.
  • Paid Time Off & Professional Development: Enjoy 80 hours of vacation, 40 hours of personal leave, and access to a beach condo for time off. We cover student loan reimbursement, licensing fees, AVMA and state dues, and continuing education costs, enabling you to grow without corporate constraints.
  • Additional Perks: Generous pet care discounts and an opportunity for future ownership are included.

Practice Location in a Thriving Community:

  • About Spartanburg: Our practice is in the vibrant upstate of South Carolina, an area known for its quality of life, local business community, and proximity to mountains and the coast. Spartanburg is family-friendly, with ample recreational, arts, and dining options.
  • Community Connection: As a private practice, we are deeply committed to the local community, supporting local businesses and encouraging employees to engage in Spartanburg’s unique offerings.

Interview Process:

  • First Interview: Phone interview with our lead veterinarian to discuss role specifics, day-to-day expectations, and address any questions.
  • Second Interview: On-site visit to meet the team and tour the facilities, including a chance to visit our sister practices and experience the Spartanburg community firsthand.

Qualifications:

  • Required: DVM degree, active Veterinary State license and DEA license (or ability to obtain both upon hire).
  • Preferred: USDA Accreditation (beneficial but not required).

If you are seeking a private practice that values professional autonomy, quality of care, and genuine community, reach out to us at charles@eastsidespartanburg.com—we look forward to connecting with you!
