Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking an Associate Underwriter to join its entry-level program designed to build a strong foundation in underwriting. The role starts in June 2027 at one of several office locations, with a hybrid schedule Monday–Wednesday in the office and remote options Thursday and Friday.

You will evaluate risk, determine pricing, and document decisions while learning from a dedicated coach. Travel is required, and strong communication with agents and internal teams is essential for

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree or equivalent applicable experience.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated leadership, professionalism, organization, and time management.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate information to determine risk acceptability, price, and document decisions per guidelines.
• Make appropriate decisions based on evaluation of information.
• Communicate underwriting and pricing decisions to stakeholders to ensure understanding.
• Document decisions in accordance with unit practices and regulatory standards.
• Build effective relationships with agency personnel and internal staff.
• Act with urgency on inquiries and requests.
• Support reporting and project needs; assist with other duties as assigned.
