Job summary

DUAL North America is seeking an Associate Underwriter for the E&S Homeowners division in San Diego, CA. You will support underwriters with submissions, quotes, and policy transactions while building broker relationships.

This exempt, full-time role offers the chance to grow underwriting authority, learn market dynamics, and contribute to premium growth alongside a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, business or a related field preferred.
• 0 - 3 year underwriter or insurance experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Process submissions by providing account triage for Underwriters.
• Provide backup support for Underwriters when traveling in the market.
• Gather and compile information required to quote and/or bind an account.
• Generate, edit, and send out various correspondence on behalf of Underwriters.
• Demonstrate basic understanding of technical underwriting principles.
• Learn market dynamics and product differences; attend weekly underwriting meetings if applicable.
• Provide customer service and underwriting support to help achieve premium goals.
• Build relationships with producers with supervision from more senior underwriters.
• Fill in for other team members to ensure business continuity during peak periods.
