Wellfleet Workplace Benefits, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, seeks an Associate Underwriter to support the Wellfleet Workplace block of business.

A successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting workplace benefit opportunities within established guidelines or develop creative solutions to opportunities that maintain appropriate risk controls. Successful candidates should have effective organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage short turnaround times. This role must develop and maintain relationships with sales and internal partners to answer questions and obtain information to manage group acquisition and implementations.

In this role, you will…

• Partner with sales representatives to identify and obtain necessary information to develop plan designs and proposals.
• Provide support with underwriting, quoting, and case building for Wellfleet distribution partners.
• Apply underwriting risk rules and underwrite small group requests to determine appropriate quote and sold rates for desired plan designs within underwriting parameters.
• Support accurate and timely plan building including sold accounts through the technology tools required for the role.
• Answer product and underwriting questions in support of the acquisition process.
• Assist with system testing and reporting for new projects.
• Participate on teams, which develop and coordinate the implementation of new procedures, to enhance the effectiveness of customer service operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are looking for candidates with…

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field or 4 years of equivalent experience in the field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and being able to learn various company systems to a high level of competence.
• Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work on a team and operate independently.
• Strong external presence with the ability to build relationships and work credibility with the sales organization.
• Ability to succeed in an environment requiring personal organization, multitasking, & regular reprioritization with short turnaround time on items of high impact.
• Ability to think creatively to develop risk appropriate solutions.
• Previous experience in insurance or office environment desired.

The annual gross base salary range is $45,000 to $60,000. This range anticipates the low and high end of the salary for this position.
