Job summary

Pennoni Associates seeks an Associate Traffic Engineer to work in Clearwater or Tampa, FL. The role involves leading traffic studies, assisting with complex highway projects, and developing TMPs and TIS.

You will perform signing and pavement marking design, curb ramp design, and ADA-related tasks while coordinating with FDOT and other public sector clients. Ideal candidates have 4–8 years of traffic experience, a Civil Engineering degree (Master’s preferred), and proficiency with Synchro,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree a plus.
• 4–8 years of relevant work experience in traffic engineering.
• Proficiency with MS Office; Microstation, Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic.

Responsibilities

• Assist with complex traffic engineering tasks on highway and bridge projects.
• Lead and develop traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.
• Signing and pavement marking design.
• Assist with Maintenance of Traffic schemes, Construction Phasing and Traffic Control Plans.
• Assist with Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Impact Studies (TIS).
• ADA design and curb ramp design.
• FDOT Access Management, TSM&O and Complete Streets initiatives.
• Assist with development of project cost estimates and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff (e.g., CADD).
• Experience with traffic software: Synchro, HCM, VISSIM, SIDRA.
• Experience with FDOT and similar public sector clients.
• Develop client relationships with public and private clients.
