Job summary

The Boeing Company in North Charleston, SC is seeking an Associate Structural Design Engineer (Level 2) to join the Aftbody Structures Life Cycle Product Team. The role focuses on developing and documenting structural requirements and delivering CAD-based designs across the product lifecycle.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform validation tests, and contribute to supplier development while upholding Safety and First Pass Quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience using CAD tools.
• Experience with aircraft structural design.

Responsibilities

• Assists with developing, integrating and documenting primary and secondary structural requirements to establish the system design
• Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D CAD tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle
• Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
• Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals
• Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
• Collaborates and performs oversight on projects with partners/suppliers
• Works under general supervision
• Possesses and encourages a mindset of Safety and First Pass Quality

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience)

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
• 2+ years of engineering experience
• 2+ years of experience using CAD Tools
• Experience with aircraft structural design

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• 2+ years of working and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to solve technical problems
• 1+ years of experience with design of composite material systems
• 1+ years of aerospace engineering experience
• Experience with CATIA and ENOVIA
• Prior experience with manufacturing/production systems
