Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. seeks an Associate Stress Engineer to perform structural analysis of aircraft structures using classical methods and finite element models, develop free body diagrams, calculate loads and stresses, and document margins of safety.

You will collaborate with design engineers to substantiate modifications and ensure airworthiness, develop structural tests, and post-process results to establish strength data, while managing tasks within scope, budget, and schedule.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Eng or recently completed degree.
• Experience with structural analysis methods and safety margins is beneficial.
• Ability to work with cross-functional design teams on airworthiness tasks.

Responsibilities

• Use classical hand analysis and/or FEM to predict loads, displacements and stresses.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers to validate aircraft modifications for airworthiness.
• Generate free body diagrams and calculate internal loads and stresses.
• Document structural analysis in reports to demonstrate compliance.
• Develop structural tests and post-process results to establish strength data.
• Manage personal work to stay within scope, budget, and schedule.
