Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Associate Stress Engineer to perform structural analysis of aircraft structures using classical methods and/or finite element models. The role involves developing load cases, calculating stresses, and documenting results to support airworthiness certification.

You will collaborate with design engineers on aircraft modifications and installations, generate free body diagrams, and help establish allowable strength data through testing and post-processing.

Qualifications

• Proficient in classical hand analysis or FE methods to predict loads and stresses.
• Ability to generate and interpret free body diagrams and stress results.
• Experience documenting analyses in formal reports for airworthiness compliance.

Responsibilities

• Use classical hand analysis and/or FE models to predict internal loads, displacements, and stresses for complex structures.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers to substantiate modifications and ensure airworthiness.
• Generate free body diagrams and calculate internal loads and stresses.
• Document structural analysis in formal reports for airworthiness compliance.
• Develop structural tests and post-process results to establish strength data.
• Manage personal work to stay within scope, budget, and schedule.
