Job summary

Sanford Health in Fargo, ND is seeking a Surgical Tech student to gain hands-on experience in the Sterile Processing department. This role offers 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling during breaks and summer, working evenings in a healthcare setting.

You will inventory, inspect, store, and reprocess surgical supplies and instruments, ensuring quality and timeliness across the health system. Prior central processing or healthcare exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in central processing or healthcare environment is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must have strong phone and computer skills, with ability to navigate the internet and use handheld devices.
• CRCST certification is strongly preferred within 24 months of date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inventory, inspect, store, distribute, and reprocess surgical supplies and instruments.
• Maintain quality and timeliness of processing across the health system.
• Follow SOPs and infection prevention guidelines.
• Operate equipment and systems including EMR, instrument tracking, and inventory management.
• Support teamwork and notify leadership of processing issues as needed.

Are you a first year Surgical Technologist student wanting to gain hand-on experience that will help you in your future career? This role is for you! We are looking for Surg Tech student to work 20 hours/week during school, and flexible scheduling during school breaks and the summer in our Sterile Processing department.

Summary

Responsible for ensuring all patient care and surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments are properly inventoried, inspected, stored, distributed and reprocessed in a quality and timely manner throughout the health system.

Job Description

Follows all standard operating procedures (SOP) and policies and infection prevention and control guidelines. Able to recognize potential and actual processing errors, notify leadership and follow-up according to procedure or instruction. Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner and maintains continuity in work flow. Responsible for use of technologies such as copy and fax machine, internet, handheld devices, electronic medical records, instrument tracking systems, inventory management systems, email and Microsoft office.
