Job summary

Brivo, Inc. is seeking an Associate Engineer - Software in Austin to work across the full stack from edge devices to mobile, web, and tooling. You will learn directly from a Principal Engineer and contribute to features across web apps, APIs, SDKs, and CLIs.

You'll gain experience shaping architecture, evaluating designs for customer impact, and growing through code review and mentorship. Candidates should have a CS-related degree and a strong desire to learn and ship reliable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Solid programming fundamentals demonstrated through coursework, internships, or projects.
• Curiosity about users and desire to fix rough edges in software.
• Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable asking questions and giving feedback.
• Willingness to learn across a broad technical surface.
• Nice to have exposure to web or mobile development, REST APIs, SDKs, or CLI tools.
• Interest in hardware, embedded systems, or IoT.
• Experience with UX research, usability testing, or customer-facing work.
• Open-source contributions, hackathons, or personal projects.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and ship features across our platform including web apps, mobile apps, APIs, SDKs, and CLIs.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews to design scalable, maintainable systems.
• Evaluate engineering designs for customer impact on installation, configuration, and usage.
• Contribute feasibility input to product planning to ground ideas in reality.
• Look beyond usage metrics to understand customer satisfaction using feedback and observations.
• Support end-to-end experience of edge device hardware from installation to operation.
• Document design decisions and tradeoffs to keep teams aligned.
• Grow through code review, pairing, and mentorship from senior engineers.
