Brivo, Inc. in Austin seeks an early-career Associate Engineer - Software to join Engineering - Video. You will work with a Principal Engineer across the full stack—from edge device hardware to mobile, web, and developer tooling—shipping software that meets real customer needs the first time.

This hands-on role offers architecture reviews, a path to technical leadership, and a growth trajectory through mentorship, code reviews, and cross-team collaboration.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• Solid programming fundamentals in at least one modern language.
• Curiosity about users and desire to fix rough edges in the software.
• Clear written and verbal communication and willingness to ask questions and give feedback.
• Willingness to learn across a broad technical surface.

Responsabilidades

• Build, test, and ship features across our platform including web apps, mobile apps, APIs, SDKs, and CLIs.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews to design scalable, maintainable systems.
• Evaluate engineering designs for customer impact on installation, configuration, and use.
• Contribute technical feasibility input to product planning.
• Understand real customer satisfaction via feedback, support patterns, and observation.
• Support end-to-end experience of edge device hardware from installation to operation.
• Document design decisions and tradeoffs to keep teams aligned.
• Grow through code reviews, pairing, and mentorship.

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 / year

Description

We're looking for an early-career engineer who cares as much about how a platform feels to use as how it's built. You'll work directly with a Principal Engineer who has architected and guided most of our platform, learning to build software that meets real customer needs the first time. This is a hands-on engineering role across our full stack, from edge device hardware to mobile, web, and developer tooling, with a path to technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, test, and ship features across our platform, including web apps, mobile apps, APIs, SDKs, and CLIs
• Participate in architecture and design reviews, and learn to design systems that are scalable, maintainable, and easy to use
• Evaluate engineering designs for customer impact: how will this change the experience of installing, configuring, and using the product?
• Contribute technical feasibility input to product planning so ideas are grounded in reality before work begins
• Look beyond usage metrics to understand real customer satisfaction, using feedback, support patterns, and direct observation
• Support the end-to-end experience of our edge device hardware, from installation through ongoing operation
• Document design decisions and tradeoffs so teams stay aligned and avoid rework
• Grow through code review, pairing, and mentorship from senior engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Solid programming fundamentals in at least one modern language, demonstrated through coursework, internships, or projects
• Curiosity about users: you notice rough edges in the software you use and want to fix them
• Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort asking questions and giving feedback
• A willingness to learn across a broad technical surface
• Nice to have
• Exposure to web or mobile development, REST APIs, SDKs, or command-line tools
• Interest in hardware, embedded systems, or IoT
• Experience with UX research, usability testing, or customer-facing work
• Open-source contributions, hackathons, or personal projects
