Job summary

enGen is seeking a software engineer to join an agile team building scalable software applications across digital channels. The role involves contributing to architectural decisions, designing specs, coding, and participating in Scrum ceremonies to deliver features end-to-end.

The candidate should have strong experience in modern languages (Java, Python, JavaScript), web tech (REST/JSON), and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP). Office-based role with opportunities to grow in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
• 1 year experience in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript) and experience with two of (React, Angular, NodeJS, NoSQL, HTML5, CSS, GCP or AWS)
• 1 year of understanding of web services technologies such as REST, HTTPS, JSON
• Understanding of IBM Mainframe technology, COBOL, JCL, DB2
• Experience with Generative AI and ethical utilization of AI tools
• Interest and ability to learn other programming languages as needed

Responsibilities

• Design and create engineering specifications for software applications and programs. Write code adhering to coding standards and perform code reviews.
• Idea generation and exploring appropriate technical solutions to achieve product features while monitoring technical process against the plan.
• Participate in all Scrum ceremonies and assist in sprint planning and execution of software applications.
• Create tasks for stories in RTC or Jira and update status and assignments.
• Monitor progress against production schedule and report issues to senior developers/principals.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.
