Job summary

enGen is seeking a software engineer to join an agile team building scalable applications across digital channels. You will contribute to architectural decisions, write high-quality code, and participate in the full software development lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on experience with modern languages, web services, and cloud platforms, plus strong collaboration in Scrum teams. A Bachelor's degree in CS/CE is required, with preference for advanced degrees.

Qualifications

• 1 year proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns in scalable, highly available systems.
• Experience with at least one modern language (Java/Python/JavaScript) and two of React, Angular, NodeJS, NoSQL, HTML5, CSS, GCP or AWS.
• 1 year understanding of REST/HTTPS/JSON web services.
• 3 years with one or more general purpose languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Go) and related ecosystems.
• 3 years defining system architectures and trade-offs for short/long term capabilities.
• 3 years working with diverse technology systems, including healthcare contexts.
• 3 years translating design mockups/user stories into working applications.
• 3 years producing fault-tolerant, maintainable code.
• 1 year experience with IBM Mainframe tech (COBOL/JCL/DB2).
• Experience with Generative AI and ethical use, plus Visual Studio Code IDE.
• Willingness to learn additional languages; strong ownership and urgency.
• Experience with Scrum/agile methodologies and rapid delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design and create engineering specifications; write code to standards; perform code reviews.
• Suggest technical solutions to achieve features; ensure scalability and performance.
• Participate in all Scrum ceremonies; assist sprint planning and execution.
• Create tasks for stories and update status in RTC or Jira.
• Monitor progress and report issues to senior developers.
• Other duties as assigned.
