Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. seeks an Associate Software Engineer to focus on Linux backend development, building reliable software that supports electric power safety and reliability in Idaho, including Boise.

You will join a team of professionals dedicated to automation, control, and monitoring. Responsibilities include collaborating with teammates, reviewing designs and tests, and understanding hardware/software interactions while delivering high-quality software.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented principles and concepts.
• Knowledge and experience in object‑oriented languages such as C++, C#, etc.
• Knowledge and experience in Linux.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
• Negative drug test result(s).

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3 years of software development experience.
• Familiarity with Git, CMake, and Docker.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.

Pay Range

Associate Software Engineer: $84,200 – $112,300 annually. (Other levels have corresponding ranges.)
