Job summary

Sanofi Inc. in Waltham, MA is seeking an Associate Scientist to support the Drug Product Platform and Early Clinical Development Team.

You will build foundational expertise in formulation and/or process development, contributing to LNP formulation development under supervision. The role involves performing small-scale LNP formulation experiments, developing initial processes, in-process characterization, data analysis, and collaboration with Analytical Sciences and Drug Product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences; 2+ years in formulation/process development or lab research.
• Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred.
• Prior professional experience in formulation/process development in pharma/biotech is a plus.
• Familiarity with LNP production or analytical characterization techniques is beneficial.
• Experience with electronic lab notebook systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support formulation optimization and/or process understanding of mRNA-containing LNP formulation and production processes under guidance from senior scientists.
• Assist the Research team in transferring and accelerating new LNP formulations into CMC development.
• Conduct small-scale multi-component LNP formulation experiments to support developability assessment.
• Contribute to Developability packages for new LNP formulations.
• Assist in developing initial formulation processes for new LNP formulations.
• Perform in-process drug product characterization under supervision.
• Perform routine and some complex analytical methods to characterize new formulations and support troubleshooting.
• Support coordination with Analytical Sciences on LNP characterization analysis.
• Assist Drug Product team in troubleshooting technical, formulation, and processing issues.
• Document development study set-up, results, and conclusions in an electronic lab notebook.
• Tabulate and analyze in-process and post-process characterization data.
• Contribute to summaries and presentations of study progress and data in team meetings.
• Assist in setting up and installing new characterization and process equipment in new labs.
