Brief Position Description:
The Pretty Eagle K-4 Academic Support specialist will support K-4 aged students by providing small group academic interventions at the direction of the classroom teacher. You will help get students back up to grade level and monitor their progress. You will build lifelong relationships while learning about, and participating in, Native American Crow culture. You will spend almost a year of service making a difference in the lives of our students while living in beautiful Montana.
Day in Life of JV
You will start your day building relationships by eating breakfast with the K-4 students.
After recess you will connect with your small group intervention class to help develop reading skills. At midmorning, you will accompany kids to the library and help them select books to take home for the week. You will monitor students at lunch and recess and after lunch, you team up with another JV to help students in their robotics elective.
At the end of the day, you help the kids get ready for after-school activities. They are really excited to start Little Eagles basketball camp. You help mentor kids at the camp as they learn new skills. After service, you and the other JVs take a twenty-minute ride to spectacular Bighorn Canyon, and as you sit on the side of a mountain watching a beautiful Montana sunset, you think; "Wow, that was a long and fun day...I am really making a positive difference!"
