Job summary

Equator Coffees seeks an Associate Roaster to support daily production roasting, QC, and workflow at our Marin County roastery. You will work under the Head Roaster, ensuring quality and consistency across roasts and aiding in green inventory, maintenance, and process improvements.

Ideal candidates bring proven commercial roasting background, strong coffee knowledge, and a collaborative mindset to thrive in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Previous production roasting experience in a commercial coffee roasting environment.
• Working knowledge of Specialty coffee, roast development, and quality standards.
• Experience participating in cuppings, quality assurance, or sensory evaluation preferred.
• Familiarity with green coffee inventory management and production workflow.
• Experience working in a food manufacturing or production environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Roast daily on all production systems and maintain consistent quality.
• Develop working knowledge of all roasting systems (manual, mechanized, electrical, digital).
• Coordinate with Head Roaster and team on order fulfillment, roasting, maintenance, and inventory needs.
• Maintain green coffee inventory and support QA through cupping and data collection.
• Follow roast profiles, SOPs, and production schedules with attention to detail.
