Job summary

Equator Coffees is seeking an Associate Roaster to support production roasting, QA, and roastery operations in Marin County. The role requires experience with commercial roasting systems and a solid foundation in specialty coffee to ensure consistent quality.

You will work under the Head Roaster, handling daily roasts, green inventory, and maintenance tasks while contributing to a collaborative team focused on learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated production roasting experience in a commercial coffee roasting environment.
• Working knowledge of specialty coffee, roast development, and green coffee handling.
• Familiarity with operating commercial roasting equipment (Loring, Probat, Giesen or similar).
• Ability to follow roast profiles, SOPs, quality standards, and production schedules.
• Strong attention to detail and communication of quality concerns.

Responsibilities

• Roast daily on all production systems and maintain roast quality.
• Develop knowledge of all roasting systems and approaches.
• Communicate daily with Head Roaster and supervisors on orders, maintenance, and inventory needs.
• Move, organize, and maintain green coffee inventory.
• Participate in QA through cupping, espresso dialing, and data collection.
