Job summary

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) Associate IT Research Professional provides hands-on IT support across the Dayton area, assisting with helpdesk tickets, workstation setup, and AD account configuration. This role emphasizes in-person troubleshooting and hardware deployment for on-site and remote staff.

Responsibilities include responding to tickets, configuring Windows workstations, managing inventory, and basic Windows Server administration.

Qualifications

• High School graduate plus four years of relevant experience or an associate degree with two years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's with no previous experience required.
• Two years of expertise in a Windows desktop environment.
• Must be able to work independently and have good customer interaction skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in providing helpdesk functions.
• CompTIA Security+ certification or the ability to obtain this certification within one year of employment.
• Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen.
• A valid driver’s license and low risk driving record is required to be insurable by the University.

The Associate IT Research Professional provides support to a growing business and emerging IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to providing IT support in the following areas:

• Assist with employee IT infrastructure: configure employee workstation/laptop configuration; configure employee accounts / active directory
• Assist with hardware and software procurement and inventory management
• Perform basic system and user administration tasks for Windows Server
• Troubleshoot, assemble, repair and configure Intel based workstations, servers and peripheral equipment

About This Role

The RITO Helpdesk supports all UDRI employees located at various locations in the Dayton Area. In support of our employees at these locations, RITO Helpdesk receives frequent helpdesk request tickets for tasks that must be completed in person, including troubleshooting hardware or network issues, deploying equipment for new employees or replacement equipment (computers, monitors, printers, etc), and other troubleshooting or tasks that may not be accomplished via remote tools. RITO is assigned a UD vehicle, which is often used by Helpdesk staff for transporting large equipment items. For these reasons, driving is an essential function for the role of Associate Research IT Professional in RITO and all Helpdesk staff must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduate plus four years of relevant experience (diverse, progressive administrative) and training, OR an associate degree plus two years of relevant experience and training, OR a Bachelor’s and no previous experience required
• Two years of expertise in a windows desktop environment
• Must be able to work independently and have good customer interaction skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience in providing helpdesk functions
• CompTIA Security+ certification or the ability to obtain this certification within one year of employment

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• 1+ years of Active Directory and Windows File Server expertise
• Experience in setup and management of imaging services for building out workstations for windows
• Experience supporting Linux systems
