This range is provided by NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range

$86,681.00/yr - $109,650.00/yr

Duties Description
  • Provide psychological services under the supervision of a licensed psychologist;
  • Design, develop, administer, score, and interpret psychological tests;
  • Conduct psychological evaluations;
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and assist in developing behavioral/treatment plans;
  • Lead individual, family, and group counseling sessions;
  • Provide administrative supervision to lower-level psychology staff;
  • Prepare reports and maintain records.
Minimum Qualifications

A doctoral degree in a clinical psychology field (see notes below); AND

EITHER a one-year, full-time pre-doctoral clinical internship OR one year of psychology experience in a clinical setting, supervised by a licensed psychologist. You must demonstrate how you meet this qualification on your application.

Notes:
  • Non-qualifying degrees include, but are not limited to: education, educational psychology, counseling, experimental psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, mental health counseling, etc.
  • Qualifying experience involves direct care with individuals, families, or groups in settings like hospitals, clinics, or private practices, primarily performing psychological evaluations, assessments, or developing treatment plans under supervision.
Additional Comments

This title is part of the NY HELPS program, allowing non-competitive appointments without an exam, with potential conversion to permanent status within a year.

Employees currently in certain state roles may transfer; preferences are given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. Eligibility for Medicare/Medicaid and other benefits, including loan forgiveness, are outlined. Employees on leave can bid on positions with reporting requirements.
