Job Summary

The incumbent provides evaluation and treatment to a wide range of students presenting to the clinic. Participates in preventative mental health programs as a consultant and leader of workshops. Provides specialized services in at least one major program and crisis/liaison services, including regular intervention with emergency and highly acute situations.

Essential Functions

  • Clinical responsibilities:
  • Provides culturally responsive and identity-informed evaluations, crisis interventions and brief psychotherapies with individuals, couples, families, and groups that affirm the complex ways in which culture and identity affect therapeutic service delivery.
  • Participates in regular on-call rotation and responds to a variety of urgent and emergent situations in 24–72-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Independently assesses and facilitates Section 12s for individuals at imminent risk to self or others.
  • Performs specialized tasks and other duties as defined by the Leadership Team.
  • Supervises psychology trainees, teaches within the training program, and is actively involved in the selection of psychology trainees.
  • Provides community consultations, groups, workshops, and outreach.
  • Prepares timely documentation of above activities.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals.
  • Promotes and supports flourishing across the life span through a developmental lens.

Other Functions

  • Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery, and other compliance requirements.
  • Recognizes the impact that racism, oppression, and other systemic inequities have on student access to care.
  • Collaborates with students to increase their capacity and skill in accessing resources that promote wellbeing and academic success.
  • Actively participates in the dismantling of systemic oppression as it shapes workplace policies and practices.
  • Works collaboratively with other campus stakeholders to fulfill the mission of Student Affairs and Campus Life.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Ph.D., Psy. D., or Ed.D. in clinical or counseling psychology or equivalent.
  • Licensure in Massachusetts for practice of psychology. (If licensed in another state or not yet licensed, must complete MA license within 1 year of hire.)
  • Three years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bilingual and/or bicultural (particularly in Mandarin).
  • Experience providing services to BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
  • Demonstrated skill in addressing acts of discrimination against marginalized groups.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Typical mental health center environment.

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
  • On-call rotation requires after hours' time.
  • Required to work some nights and weekends.
