Job summary

COWI is seeking an Associate Project Director in Civil for North America to lead multi-disciplinary design and project management on large civil programs. You will mentor teams, drive technical solutions, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure compliance with codes and client requirements.

Based in New York area, you will collaborate across transportation, energy and infrastructure projects, coordinating with remote teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality results while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer registration in NY or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Knowledge of NYC public agency processes and private utilities.
• Active participation in professional associations; willingness to learn.
• Strong planning, organizational and multitasking skills under pressure.
• Clear written/verbal communication; proficient with MS Office and CADD tools.
• Ability to work with remote teams and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams, mentoring junior staff and coordinating technical work.
• Solve complex design challenges, delivering calculations, drawings, and estimates.
• Plan projects (budgets, schedules) and ensure code/standard compliance.
• Optimize designs through technical/financial analysis and site inspections.
• Produce documentation (specs, reports) and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
• Oversee quality control from feasibility studies to final deliverables.
• Develop innovative transportation, energy, and infrastructure solutions.
